Former California Alliance for Minority Participation (CAMP) undergraduate research student, Christopher Ochoa, with other members of the Joanna Chiu lab, explained their work at the Bohart Museum of Entomology open house held last Saturday, Jan.

A computer science undergraduate was part of a team of researchers that just won the 2018 Amazon Alexa Prize for creating a chatbot named “Gunrock.” that outscored its competitors at the annual Amazon Web Services re:Invent conference in Las Vegas.

Congratulations to our 2nd-place photo contest winner, Karina Targos!

Karina is a 4th-year chemistry major working in organic synthesis, and her favorite part of working with specialized instruments like this very big magnet! Karina wins a URC t-shirt and a $25 Amazon gift card, which includes a very tiny magnet.

Program alumnus (MMP 2-15-16) and graduating senior, Matt Hanna won two distinguished awards in 2018 for his excellence in research: the John and Lyn Lofland Award for Undergraduate Research and the Outstanding Senior Award for Sociology.  Matt Hanna also presented "Suicide by Cop: A Sociological Study of Comparative Cases” at the Undergraduate Research, Scholarship & Creative Activities Conference.
