Second Undergraduate Research Fair kicks off Oct. 10

UC Davis undergraduate students who want to conduct research can meet with more than 37 faculty at the second-ever Undergraduate Research Fair Oct. 10.

The fair, which runs 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 10 in the ARC Ballroom and Courtyard, provides students information about how to participate in research projects, learn about research programs and explore opportunities to work in labs.

“Conducting research as an undergraduate sets you up for success in many fields,” said Raynell Hamilton-Starks, Undergraduate Research Center director.

She said student researchers gain confidence as future scientists, enhance their resumes and build transferable skills.

After debuting last year, the fair continues to grow with more faculty scheduled to participate to offer research opportunities for students. Students do not need to register for the event. Faculty interested in participating should register online.

The Undergraduate Research Center offers multiple events throughout the year, culminating with the Undergraduate Research Scholarship and Creative Activities Conference. This year’s conference is set for April 25-26.

As part of UC Davis Undergraduate Education, the Undergraduate Research Center seeks to increase undergraduate student engagement in faculty-sponsored research across campus, majors and class levels and promote research as a high-impact experience that enhances students' readiness for future careers.
